In WA, the new Coalition for a Safe Climate has formed directly as a result of the Climate Summit. We will be organising an action outside Gary Gray's office on Fri 27 March as part of this national campaign.

For more info, phone Kamala 0417 319 662.

(There also is a website for the coalition which is in the process of construction at: www.safeclimate.org.au)

Hey holly,

What is FoE or any other mob doing to counteract everpresent lobbying by heavy industry on government for all manner of 'assistance' under the CPRS>>>???

Seems free permits are well out the door already.... once the White Paper comes out... v. little chance of changing policy.

No matter how high/low the target is, if heavy polluters are 'shielded' from the emissions price - little chance of structural adjustment being effective in bringing forward renewables....

It's going to take a lot of pressure on our politicians to match what they get from the lobbyists of a few big mining companies. We can't afford to not care or to be resigned to careless and heartless decisions.

At a time when such horrendous decisions are frighteningly easy for governments to make, no other attitude is as irresponsible as not having an opinion.

Subject: FW: Alert on Climate Change Step it up Campaign in December [SEC=UNCLASSIFIED]

Dear Senator,

The Protective Security Coordination Centre in the Attorney-General's Department has received advice on a climate change related information kit which has been launched ahead of a concerted action campaign in December - "A Kit to Step-in to Your Federal Member's Office". The kit is attached. The web address is http://stepitupaustralia.wordpress.com You will see that this gives precise guidance to potential protesters. Below my signature block is the introductory message on the website.

The PSCC has asked that I circulate this for the information of all senators and their staff so that they are aware of the likely nature and timing of action. Electorate offices appear to be the main target. There are likely also to be associated correspondence campaigns as well as requests for meetings and so this may impact on your Parliament House suites as well.

Please contact me if you require further information.

Regards
